Fruit Basket Turnover at the Wheelis House

In January, we began working on moving kids to different bedrooms and redoing the upstairs bathroom (that was decorated in pink purses--not suitable for Colby!!)  My master-painter, Steven, worked very hard to help make it all happen! :)

KIDS' BATHROOM

We got tile put down in the bathroom (with the connections and help from my sister-in-law, Gayla)...SOOOO much better than stinky carpet and peeling linoleum!!!  Our friend, Lynn, had given the kids the new shower curtain, towels, and rugs as part of their Christmas--felt like it worked for both boys/girls, preschoolers/preteens....quite a combination!  Audra, with the help of her art teacher, made the two fish paintings to match.  I found the "You Are My Sunshine" subway art (one of my favorite songs to sing to them at bedtime...) and had it printed and framed.  I feel everything came together beautifully!  Now, to just get all the kids using this bathroom......

WHITNEY'S ROOM

Whitney moved into what has always been Audra's pink room.  She got new bedding,  new wall art, and a revamped lampshade (made by me!!) to spruce it up...oh, and I redid her name letters to match the decor.  We touched up the paint that Audra had had and rearranged the furniture to make it feel different...  She really likes her "big girl room"!  She's getting better about sleeping all night in her own bed now, too--especially if she can get Jonesy to stay with her!

AUDRA'S ROOM

 Audra moved into what was our guest bedroom.  She chose her bedding, decor, and wall paint.  We used lots of her art projects to decorate too...Uncle Nick gave her a tv/dvd combo for her wall, so she is SET!  (If anyone has ideas on how to hide the black cord hanging down the wall, please share!)  She is happy--except for the new closet which is half the size of her old one...I keep telling her it's just half as much messiness to have to clean!!! ;)

COLBY'S ROOM

Poor Colby probably got the short end of the stick...he didn't get anything new--though he did move upstairs to what was Whitney's room and now has TONS more room to play with his balls and trucks!  He is now napping in his toddler bed and has slept part of the night there a couple of times.  I am all for him sleeping in his crib as long as he wants (probably cause he's the last baby???)--or until we turn his old room into the new guest bedroom...which hasn't happened yet...

So, those are the most recent changes in our house...love the cleaning out that took place as part of the moving!  It was a lot of work {for mommy} but always good to purge things we don't need/use, and the kids are all happy and haven't missed the carloads of "stuff" we donated, so all was successful--YAY!!!
