Spring Break at the Zoo

....no, I am not talking about my house, though I could be!  There have definitely been moments this week that I felt like I was with a bunch of silly monkeys!!!! :-)

We decided to make a quick trip to the zoo on Friday to finish out our spring break fun & invited Lilly to join the fun.  We were NOT the only ones with this idea!  We arrived 20 minutes after it opened and the parking lots were nearly full and there was a very long line of cars waiting to get in!!!  We got a spot and made a bit of a trek to the entrance...and then had F.U.N.!!!

Since we've been a lot over the past months, and since it was so crowded, we gave ourselves permission to not see every animal this time.  We made it to two of the "animal encounters"--talks where you get to see the zookeepers work with the animals and teach about them--and they were both very neat and enjoyed!  First we learned about the lions' training...

Then we went to the bird show, "Soar", where we were introduced to many different types of birds and saw lots of cool "tricks"!

The girls ended the trip with a ride on the carousel and then we hit the road, Jack!  When we left the line to get in reached farther than we could see on I35 and they were using remote lots...glad we timed it like we did!

The kids used their McDonald's gift cards from Grandma and enjoyed Happy Meals, ice cream cones, and playing before getting home...all in all, a great end to a family-fun week at home!!!
